Syros, Greece

From Mykonos, we wanted to visit Santorini, but found that in the shoulder/off-season there were no direct ferries connecting the two islands. After consulting a travel agent, she recommended we spend a night on Syros, and then the next day take a ferry from there to Santorini. Once on Syros, we stayed in the island's capital city, Ermoupoli, at a cheaper hotel close to the water. The hotel had no reception, so we had to wait for a lady to come take our money and give us a key, it was pretty weird, but the room was really cool, as you'll see in the pictures. We spent the day climbing up and down the city's hundreds of stairs and looking around. Over all it was a pretty good day.

Our Ride To Santorini

Delos, Greece

Just a half hours boat ride from Mykonos, is the small island of Delos. Being nearly the center of the Cyclades, the island has a very rich history and retains much of it in its many ruins and mosaics. On our day trip from Mykonos, we hiked up the highest peak (Mt Kythnos, 113m), went to the Delos Museum, and wandered through the extensive ruins. The main reason I wanted to visit Mykonos, was to visit Delos, so I'm glad it lived up to its expectations.
